Programa
Morning: The Musical String Starter

This workshop for teachers will present imaginative ideas designed to develop general musical skills as well as specific areas of technique in a young string player. It includes pulse and rhythm games, ideas for teaching left- and right-hand techniques, activities to build listening and music-reading skills and a variety of easy motivational pieces drawn from Kathy and David’s Fiddle, Viola, and Cello Time Starters books. This workshop is suitable for violin, viola and cello teachers looking for ideas to help build confidence and success in their pupils. Bring your instrument and join in.

Afternoon

1. Group discussion and presentation of ideas for teaching more established players. Discussion to share teaching ideas, followed by a presentation of technical ideas drawn from our material, including Scale books, etc.

2. Ensemble: This workshop will explore imaginative ways to develop ensemble playing. It will demonstrate simple ways into ensemble playing with a variety of pieces, it will explore techniques and tips for a good rehearsal, and will offer the chance to play some imaginative repertoire at different levels. Bring your instrument (including double bass!) for a fun musical experience!
