Boas-vindas do Presidente da ESTA Internacional

"It is my special honour and pleasure to welcome ESTA-Portugal into the ESTA community. The founding of the The European String Teachers Association by Marianne Kroemer in 1972 was the result of her vision  that different violin schools should abandon rivalries, get together and start talking to each other.

That intuition is the pillar of ESTA and is widely shared: forty-two years later, over thirty ESTA national branches are now active through Europe. In our annual European conferences there is an intense exchange of ideas and experiences.

These meetings have been held every year in a different member country since 1974: the last one, in 2014, took place in Dresden(Germany). The next ones are planned in Middelburg(Netherlands), Ljubljana(Slovenia), Kazan(Tatarstan) and Malta. We belong to ESTA because we all deeply believe in the universal value of music.

In our teaching we have the wonderful task to keep Music alive as the universal language of mankind. The impulse and energy needed in our work, needs to be continuously renewed, and this process sparks the awareness, in all of us, of what a great privilege it is to be a music teacher; to teach music.

The enthusiasm that nourished the foundation of ESTA-Portugal is the best auspice for success and the quest for ensuing important achievements. In this spirit, I renew my warmest and most sincere welcome to ESTA-Portugal, and in the name of the highest ideal of Music, wish all its members, success for an enriching and stimulating collaborative activity.
